Design Process

Initial Site Visit & Consultation

Our process begins from the point of initial contact, when we take the time to learn and understand what types of services are needed and wanted, whether it’s landscape design, garden installation, or any other custom project within our offerings. From there, we will schedule an on-site consultation at your property with our landscape designer. During this meeting, we’ll explore your wish list and goals, ideas, design style, and budget in order for us to gain a clear understanding of your vision and how we can best serve you.

Following the design consultation, a retainer deposit amount is determined. Upon payment, the design phase of the project begins, when our landscape design team will work on creating a presentation for your review, encompassing landscape design and site layout, schedule, and estimated overall costs. From there, any design changes or modifications can be discussed and implemented.

The retainer deposit is applied to installations that we perform. If you decide not to use The Garden Girl Company to install your design, the retainer covers the design services rendered.

Design retainer includes:

  • Garden and landscape design including PowerPoint presentation showcasing plant material, hardscaping, lighting options, pergolas, large trees, etc.
  • Up to three design revisions.
  • Finished landscape design drawn to scale, with all elements and plantings clearly labeled.
Once a design has been approved, we will prepare a project estimate based on scope of work, and your project will be added to our production schedule. Our landscape design team and crew will be on hand every step of the way, with progress reports from the beginning of the work through to the end when you can step into the garden and landscapes of your dreams.

Note: Not every project requires design services; some projects can simply be discussed, estimated, and installed. This will be determined at the initial on-site meeting.

Being a good fit is important to us. Due to increasing demand, The Garden Girl Company cannot accommodate every request we receive. We carefully assess every inquiry and advise if our company can take on your project or if we may have to decline due to scope, budget, or location.
